AVONDALE ROADS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —By your kind permission, and through the medium of your paper. 1 beg to call public attention to the doings of Avondale Road Board as to the expenditure of rates. All Avondale South ratepayers consider they do not get their fair share of rate expenditure. Some are paying rates for 20 years, and have not even a track to their houses, while those in Avondale .North have metalled roads and scoria footpaths to tlioiv doors. I would regard it as very kind if any member oi other Road Boards would state in your paper the custom as to the allocation of rates. Are the rates bound to be expended where raised? Or can the Board expend all rales on a few streets? Further, arc all parts of the district entitled to good roads before a select few ant given footpaths from the rates. Surely, (he Act must lay down some mode of procedure as to the distribution of rates for the district roads. Let those who know the procedure anent allocation of rates be good enough tv give information thereanent so that Avondale South may know what to expect and what they can demand.—l am, etc..
