WELLINGTON CITY ACCOUNTS.
A QUESTION OF BOOKKEEPING. (By Telegraph.— rress Aseo^tlon.) WELLINGTON, this day. The- Finance Committee of tae City Council, reporting on the AudiiorGeneral's complaint as to improper bookkeeping and alleged mistakes in accounts, state that the accounts'as published do not set forth the position of the Corporation in a manner enabling its true, financial position to be easily arrived at. While not laying* great stress on the auditors ''tags," they make suggestions for dealing with the accounts differently, and supply a statement on the lines they suggest, which shows that the annual expenditure last year exceeded income by £7765.
