AUCKLAND TIMBER WORKERS' UNION. The ajinoal meeting of the North Auckland Timber Workers' Union was held at Aratapu on Saturday evening. There was a good attendance from the different mills of the district. It was decided that none but members of the Union should be eligible for the position of secretary, and Mr Edward Phel.in was then nnanlmousiy elected to this position. Mr Fhelan Bad been acting temporarily since the resignation of the late secretary. Mr John Stallworthy, M.H.R.. was re-elected president without opposition. The other officers are: Vice-president. Mr G. E. Smith: treasurer. Mr A. SoTvter: committeemen, Messrs E. Warmington, l>. Corbett, and J. Wheeler: anditor.'Mr John Hogg. The president ami secretary were instructed to make Inquiries into matters specially affecting tlie city members of the Union, *an<J authorised to act in the appointment of s'city secretary in the place of Mx P. Hornan. who lias resigned. The secretary reported a good feeling existing in the Industry between employees and employers generally, although there are some matters still requiring attention. The tlalon is also pleased with die promptness of'tie Inspector of Factories In dealing with matters brought ■under iii 3 notice. ■ -
