FASHION NOTES.
Personally, I must say I like old fashioned embroidered spot on a clea ground just as well as any of its mor recent rivals. Indeed, quite THE MOST CHARMING MUSLIN GOWN
I have seen this season was composed of this material—a small black embroidered spot upon an unusually transparent white ground. This frock was quite simply made and but slightly trimmed, the excellent effect being obtained by the extreme fulness of both bodice, and skirt, which gave a most ethereal appearance to the muslin, and permitted the white silk underskirt to show through in occasional fascinating gleams. The bodice had a. double turn-down collar of white book-muslin, arranged in the tiniest of tucks, edged with a Valenciennes lace frill; while the open front was entirely filled with minute knifepleated frills of the book-muslin, each frill being edged with the narrowest of Valenciennes lace. The elbow sleeves were unlined, and very full, being drawn into graceful folds just above the elbow, ■where they terminated in frills of lace, two deep tucks, heading two little plisse frills, were the sole adornment of the immensely full skirt, which measured something like twelve yards round the hem. The finishing touch was given to this pretty frock by a folded belt and breast-knot of the most lovely of Pompadour silks—bunches of pale pink rosebuds on a ground of exquisite blue, the same silk wreathing the crown and forming the cache-peigne of the dainty hat intended to be wovn with it.
