Mr. Hemingway, who made the presentation, mentioned the fact that the greatest credit was-dne to Mr. Esam-in topping the; list of fellowship candidates, as Mr. Esam had worked under the greatest disadvantages owing to ill-health. In fact, in the very last paper of the examination, Mr. Esam .was stricken with an attack of hemorrhage, yet, on being wrapped in wet towels, he stack manfully to his paper to the end. and was rewarded with the "ratifying result of not only passing, but having his name first in the Est. Mr. Esam suitably responded, returning Mr. Hemingway thanks for his very useful and Valuable gift, and assuring him that it -would be always highly appreciated by pirn. *
