THE POWER BOAT ASSOCIATION. The New Zealand Power Boat Association opened their club room in Endean's Buildings last night. , A large number of members and their friends wer-e present, and after the proceedings the party adjourned to the Auckland Dining Rooms where a smoke concert was held. The commodore (Mr. W. S. Whitley) presided and after proposing the loyal toast, referred to the progress made by the association since its inception a few months ago They started in November last with a membership of six, which had now increased to 101. The financial position of the association was also sound, the cash in hand amounting to £32 0/6. In regard to racing he said it would be the aim of the association to keep the sport in a sound and healthy condition, and adding that the smallest boat in the association must have the same consideration as the largest and finest boat in the colony. He urged th e members to persevere and never to lose sight of the fact that motoring, as yet only in its infancy, has become very popular in Auckland; that it will continue to grow, and that in time it is possible for the association in its own particular sphere will attain to the same high position which the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron o£ which they were nearly all members, now held throughout the colonies. A number of complimentary toasts were honoured, Including the Royal New Zealand Xacht Squadron and the New Zealand Power Boat Association. The following gentlemen contributed an enjoyable concert programme: Messrs. Wlnkleman, Whitley ("') Partridge, Whltson, Logan, jnr., Brown, and Smith.
