GISBORNE, Friday. The official returns for Waiapu local option poll are: Continuance, 2714; reduction, 2637; no-license, 4000; valid votes, 6713. Continuance was affirmed.
DUNEDIN, Friday,
The official figures for the Waikouaiti local option poll are: Continuance, 1532; reduction, 1902; no-license, 2319 j voters, 3868. Reduction is carried.
Clutha: Restoration, 1459; non-res-toration, 2536; informal, 111; voters, 3705. Non-restoration is carried. WESTPORT, Friday. The official figures for the Bullar local option poll are: Continuance, 2609; reduction, 1073; no-license, 2403; •voters, 5073. ,
THE PARNELL CONTEST.
The secretary of the Parnell Liberal and Labour Federation (Mr S. Bond) read an interesting telegram to a meeting of Mr F. Lawry's supporters in Parnell last night. After the declaration of the poll the Premier had wired him as follows: "The benefit of Organisation was amply demonstrated yesterday, and the cause of the people has triumphed. The services of yourself, officers, and members of the Federation will ever be gratefully remembered, and the colony and tbe people will benefit thereby.— R. J. S-ddon."
