FRUIT AND PRODUCE MARKETS. Tne local fruit and produce market* have been fairly busy during the past week, the most noticeable change being a fair increase in the supply of new potatoes, combined with a good improvement in the quality. Owing to the Increased supply prices were slightly lower, although all were quitted at high rates. A Jieavy shipment of onions were landed from Sydney on Monday, inclndlng a quantity in cases from Japan, the latter being in excellent condition. Prices all round fell considerably. Tbe first hothouse grapes of the season, from Devonport and Whangarei, were submitted at the sales yesterday, also apricots and cherry plums from the Thames. The former sold well, but the latter bad been picked in too I green a state to command the attention of buyers. There was a heavy supply of dndoor tomatoes, for which prices fell considerably on late rates. The following were the ruling prices at the auction sales yesterday: Field Produce. — Potatoes: Local, new, (special, 2d lb: good, ljd to lid; poor, Ud. Onions: New Sydney, 13/ to 14/ cwt; American, 14/ to 15/; Japanese, 14/ to 15/. Chaff, £5 10/ ton. Vegetables.—Green peas, 6d to 1/ peck; asparagus. 4d to 8d dozen. Dairy Produce.—-Dairy and separator bntter. 8d to 9Jd lb: pastry, 8d; farmers', keg, firsts 7d, seconds sd; milled, in bulk, for export, 9Jd; factory rolls, lid. Eggs: Fresh, 8d to BJd dozen. Cheese: Farmers', 5d lb; factory, fijd; loaf. 6Jd. Bacon: Farmers', 3d to sd; factory, guaranteed, 6id; others, 3d to sd. Hams: Farmers', 4d to 6d; factory, guaranteed, 7d; others, 4d to Gd. Fruit.—Apples: American, 14/ to 15/ case, Ptunis: Cherry.. green, 2/6 to 2/7 box." Grapes: Hot-boose, 2/3 to 2/T lb. Tomatoes: Indoor, large 6d to Sd, small 3d to 4d. Oranges: Local, 4/ to 5/ case; Sydney, 5/ to 9/6. Mandarins: Sydney, 4/ to 7/6. Lemons: Local, prime, 4/ to 5/; Sydney, 5/ to 8/; local, rough and coarse, 5/ to 8/. Cherries: Local, 6d to 1/ lb; Sydney, 7/ to 8/ bos. Gooseberries: 3/6 to 4/ per 20lh box. Apricots: Thames, 7/6 to 0/ per 18ib box. Bananas, 3/ to 4/ bunch; re-packed, 2d lb. Pines, 5/ to 7/ case; cocoanuts, 8/ to 9/ sack.
