VOLUNTEER NOTES.
No. 2 NATIVES , CHAMPION BELT. The annual competition for the No. 2 Native Rifles' champion belt took place at the Penrose range on Saturday Inst. Sergeant Phillips won the belt with a good score of 92 pouits out of a possible 105. Lance-cor-poral Vincent, last year's winner, was run-ner-Tip. The conditions were seven shots at 200, 300, and fiOO yards. The following: are the principal scores:—Sergt. Phillips, 30 at 200, 32 at 300, 30 at 500, total 92: Lance.orp. (Vincent, 28, 26. 26—SO; Sergt. Pricker, MO 23, 26—78; Corp. Wafeon, 27, 22, 29— 78; Lieut. Richardson, 26, 21, 25—72; Pte. Wakelin. 25, 23, 22—70; Pte. McMnrtrie, 23 19, Pte. Jel lings. 29, 17, 19—65; Col.-Sergt. Taylor, 16. 21, 26-r63; Pte. Danrell 19 li, 25-61; Pte. Oxeiuiam, 27, 22, 9 —08; Pte. Cross, 22, 16, J 7— 55. WAIHI SHOOTING. (By Telegraph.— Own Correfl(>oiiuent.) WAIHI, this day. The final competition for a set of carvers was fired on Saturday by the No. 3 O»R.V., Corporal Comes winning by one point off Private Parslow. The leading scores and totals in both matches ware:—Corp. Comes, 183- Pte. Parslow, 182; Pte. Moore, 179; l'te' Clark, 178; Llent. Ready, 177; Lancecorp. Magee, xT6, Captain Lloyd, 160.
