EARTH HUNGER.

(By Telegraph,—Own Correspondent.)

WELLINGTON, this day.

The earth hunger is still in evidence ia this part of the colony. At the instance of a number of settlers in the Eketahuna district, the Government deputed Messrs. Barron, of the Land Purchase Bo£.rd. and Kensington, UnderSecretary of Lands, to inspect the Tiraumea run, of about 11,000 acres, situated about 27 miles from Eketahuna, and owned by Mr. Ho-hnes Warren, and report as to its suitability for closer Bettlement purposes. It is understood that the report is of a favourable nature, and, as the owner is willing to part with his interest in the run at a reasonable figure, the representations of the adjoining settlers will probably be given effect to. Other estates in the North Island are likely to be acquired shortly by the Government in terms of the Lands for Settlement Act.
