The many friends of Mr Jno. Morrison, general manager of the Mosgiel Woollen Company at Diinedin, will re<rret to learn that news has been revived of the rather sudden death of jus wife on Thursday night.

A pleasing function took place on Thursday evening last, when the employees of Mr Thomas Miller, Victoriastreet, assembled to participate in the presentation to Mr W. H. Nagle of two jEmdsome and useful presents on the eve of his approaching marriage. His employer, Mr T. Miller, presented him with a solid marble clock, and a silver tea and coffee service was presented by jlr A. HaDVtt on behalf of the employees. The high esteem in which the Teeipent s held, and the many excellent qualities that he possessed, was referred to. Mr Nagle suitably responded.

A pleasant function took place at the warehouse of Messrs. J. Wiseman and Sons, Ltd., on Friday, when the employees of the firm assembled for the purpose of presenting to two of their number, Miss D, Ponsford, and Mr. E. Pountney. a gift on the occasion of their approaching marriage. Mr. James Wiseman, managing director, on behalf of the employees, made the presentation, and expressed" the good wishes of all assembled. Miss Ponsford has filled the position of typiste for the past six years, during which time she has made herself very popular. The gathering closed by all present joining lustily in singing -'They Are Jolly Good Fellows," followed by three rousing cheers.
