TRAMWAYS MANAGEMENT.
■ » WELLINGTON AND AUCKLAND. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. • In the opinion of one or two City Couneillers, something is needed to improve the management of the tramway ■ traffic in the city. A motion tabled at | this week's meeting of the Council gave j them the opportunity of ventilating cer- j tain grievances. The Mayor, in reply to the statements of the dissatisfied ones, said the Tramways Committee had a report which showed that the Wellington service compared more than favourably with the Auckland service, and that the Wellington service was admittedly the better kept of the two, while there was less expense here in the higher branches of the service than in Auckland. The Mayor admitted that he could not close his ears to complaints other than those heard in the Council Chamber concerning the alleged mismanagement of the tramway service in a certain direction. The matter was now being dealt with by a sub-committee.
