THE FLORAL FETE.
The authorities of the annual floral fete have a lengthy advertisement in this issue in connection with the forthcoming demonstration. It is largely in the nature of a special appeal to the public for assistance, without which the fete cannot be a success. A very special effort is to be made by the Benevolent Society to make a larger sum than usual from the fete on afecount of the relatively small amount (£300) taken last year at the fete through the wet -weather. This annual fete is the only appeal which the Benevolent Society make on the public direct, and as it depends very largely for its funds on that one appeal it is important that those who have any sympathy with its charitable mission—and there can be none who have not —should lend ail their assistance on this occasion. The Bo.ciety at the present time has but £90 in hand—not two months' supply for its work.
The Society specially appeals to the charitable public to contribute supplies to the different kiosks, to decorate vehicles, to contribute money and generally to help by all means in their power. So far the attractions provided include a procession of the decorated vehicles and of motor-cars, a grand parade of cadets numbering three thousand five hundred, a grand march of "posters," which should he one of the most interesting features of the fete, and some Scotch dances and marches by the St. Andrew's Society. Other attractions are being prepared, and suggestions will be willingly received for that purpose.
