A GRACEFUL COMPLIMENT.

SYDNEY, this day.
The New South Wales Rugby Union cabled to the High Commissioner for New Zealand in London. Mr. W. P. Reeves, asking him to convey to the New Zealand footballers congratulations on their brilliant record, and best wishes for to-day's test match.
The "Daily Telegraph," in an appreciative article on the team, concludes: ''For the present the colonial physique and health are so superbly good .that they testify with comforting eloquence to'the betterment of the transplanted and blended Britisher and the steadfast progress of our wonderful Empire. Viewed in its character of representative... .-*, therefore, the circumstance that the New Zealand football team had won so many matches and so easily was otherwise interesting rather than important. But at least it involved a great historical and ethnological fact.
