On Sunday last a special meeting of the con-

: gregation was held, and it was decided to appoint the Rabbi Goldstein and Messrs; S. Ziman (the treasurer) and W7~3iL Neuruegen (secretary of the Synagogue) as • a sub-committee to co.lect subscriptions for remission to the distressed Jews. This committee has within the week easily collected a considerable sum. Mr. S. J. Nathan (president of " ■ the Synagogue) has, therefore, been en- • J abled to transmit by this outgoing mail " to the London headquarters no less a 1 sum than £150.
