WHARF LABOURERS' MEETING.
Some Startling Rumours. SYDNEY, November 15. A mass meeting of wharf labourers to discuss the recent Arbitration Court's sward, reducing pay for night work, is proceeding, and the reporters are not admitted. In the meantime the wharf labourers have resumed work for the North Coast Company pending the decision of the meeting. Whatever the resalt of the meeting the shipowners dedare their intention of upholding the Arbitration Court's award. (Received 9.43 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. Two thousand men attended the wharf labourers* meeting. Extraordinary precautions were taken to prevent leakage, and no official information is obtainable, though it has been ascertained that a resolution was carried, but not unanimousIn some quarters .it is stated that it is proposed that there shall be a. general cessation of work in the coastal and in-ter-State wharves when the arbitration award comes into operation on Mbndav. Others say there is to be a cessation of night work only, while there are vet others VFho say that the meeting favoured the continuance of the existing- rates. The general opinion is that there will be a,t \snst a partial cessation on Monday.
