INTERESTING SEPARATION . APPLICATION. Helen Henrietta Hedlund,: J fepreserifced by Mr J. JL Lundon, applied to ilr R. W. Dyer, S.M., in the Police Couri to-day for a separation order against her husband, John Ephriam Hedlund, who did. not appear bat was represented by Mr Gregory. The complainant stated that her Irasband' was a sailor. She had six ch"Qdren > four of whom required to be maintained. During her married life of 20 years'she had experienced trouble through - her husband's drunkenness, and twelve months ago she left home for a fortnight owing to Hedlund's bod treatment. Owing to something she beard she went back to her husband", who was living with the children at Onehnnga*. She saw a woman in the house,, but this. person left upon her arrival. Hedlund declared that he would not stay with, her or keep the children, and in; a fe-w days.he left the house. He advertised the fact that he would not be responsible for her debta, and the result was that ahe could not get credit. She did not see "him again until they met recently in a solicitor's offce, and she had. not received any money from Him. In reply to ifr Gregory, who appeared for the defendant, Mr Heilund said her husband made an unfounded allegation! •gainst her five years ago, and she refused to live with Mm as his wife in, consequence. He had repeated the allegation of unfaithfulness recently. ' . His Worship remarked that as the case stood, He could not grant a separation order, though Mrs Hedlund and her children were entitled to maintenance. Sfr Gregory said that the defendant offered 15/ weekly towards the maintenance of his children, and the complainant's solicitor replied that this waa considered too little. Mrs Hedlund, in reply to the magistrate, said she would accept 17/8 weekly, and upon Mr Gregory's application the case was adjourned for three weeks so , that the parties could settle it by; means of a deed 'of separation. • -
