MISS O'NEIL.
I Consistent patrons of the drama as presented during the last few years in Auckland will retain a vivid recollection of Miss Nance CNeil's powerful portrayal four years ago of the character of "Magda" in Suderman's play of that name, and it is in this character that Mr J. G. Williamson proposes that she shall first be eeen during the season to be inaugurated at His Majesty's Theatre on Saturday evening next. Good as she was in the part on her previous tour in the colonies, Miss O'Jfeil now, according to - the Ausj tralian critics, gives a still better cori- | ception of if. On the production of the play in Sydney at the beginnine of I last month, the "Herald saidthrilling delivery of Magda's defiant speeches against the unalterable conditions of feminine existence^ wiihin. the social circle, her anguished expressions of love for her son, and the large and tolerant tones of wisdom and affection which marked her dealings wrtfi the little sister, all touched the audience as m former days. in physique, but still possessing, tad splendour of figure so helpful in. enabling' Her to dominate tie scenes she shakes with a wnirlwiid of emotion, Miss imeil now brings a matured method to bear T£ 3 ~ h and conception of Magda Her triumph was aceiaimed tte . old fay by great outbursts of enthusiasm.- "Magda" will be presented on the first three nights, and the succeeding three will be deyoted to an elaborate production of "Elizabeth Queen of England." The plans for these six naghts will fee opened at Wildman, and Azey's on Wednt»da> morning
