HELPING HAND MISSION.

TWENTIETH ANNIVERSARY o

The 20th anniversary of the above Mission was celebrated yesterday in the Choral Hall, which was very tastefully decorated with flags, nikau palms, festoons of lyeopodfium and arum lilies. The children of the Mission Sunday-school, assisted by a large choir, rendered a selection of beautiful hymns with fine spirit and expression under the baton of Mr H. Blakeley. Auss Eva McKehzie acted .as accompanist, and an excellent orchestra, led. toy Miss Millie Peak assisted. Mr J. P. Hootdn presided at the organ. The soloists -were Miss Davina Moirison, •who sang "The Children's Day," and Mr Wm.' Aspinall, "Call Then In." One fefy interesting feature of the days services, was the recital by some of the little scholars of the Scriptures, those taking part being Miss Lyttle, Miss Clark, and Masters Natt and Hindman, while three little girls—Misses Day. King and Owens —recited the 23rd Psaim. Several llttie girls also sang very nicely "Happy Little Workers." The Mission Brass Band, under Bandmaster H. G. Hill, played a choice selection of marches and anthems in front of the hall .during the" day. The Rev. J. A. Luxford spoke in the morning on "Workers together with God," and Mrs Harrison Lee on /'Wanted, a Home Missionary," a special address to the children. The Rev. B. Rothwell's subject at night was "Let us alone." Owing to the wet weather in the early part of the day the morning and afternoon congregations were smaller than usual, but at night a large crowd filled the hall. The Mission tea and social .takes place to-night, as announced elsewhere.
