TRAFALGAR CENTENARY.

CHURCH PARADE,

Yesterday the naval and military forces of Auckland went to church en masse by way of celebrating the centenary of Trafalgar. The No. 1 Battalion of Infantry (Countess of Ranfurly's Own), the Garrison Artillery, the "A" Battery, the Engineers and the Bearer Corps assembled at the Drill Hall yesterday morning dnd inarched down Queen-street to meet the sailors of H.M.s. Prometheus, and the- Permanent Fotce, who had come over from Devonport. Then, led by the No. 1 Battalion Band, with the Prometheus detachment at the head-of the column, the whole body marched to St. ' Mary's Cathedral, where t)ivince service was conducted by Bishop Neligah.

There were between 500 and 600 'men on parade, the Prometheus party being under Commander Woolcombe, R.N., and the land forces under Colonel R. H. Davies, C.B. Lieut. Smythe Was in charge of the Permanent Force. Captain Bosworth commanded A. Battery, N.Z.RA., Oabtain Barag-wanath No. 8 G.A. (Ponsonby Navals); and Lieut Aylett the No. 9 G.A. (Coastguards), and Captain Tapper the No. 4 Engineers, who all had good musters. The Infantry Battalion was in charge of Major J. E. Reed, and the individual companies, who mustered over 200, as follows:—Victoria Rifles, Lieut. R. G. Cox; College Rifles, Lieut. Dawson; No. I Natives, Lieut. W. Melntosh; No. 2 Natives, Captain A. Bartlett; No. 3 Natives, Captain Stevenson; Gordon Rifles, Lieut. J. F. Pullen; Newton Rifles, Capt. Plugge. The Bearer Corps was in charge of Captain Tunics. There were also some members of the Hauraki Rifles and the A.M.R. who were present on parade. The Submarine Miners (No. 3 Engineers), Under Captain Murdoch, headed by the Band of the Ist Battalion A.M.R., and follbwed by the cadets of the Wellesley and Nelson-street Schools, marched to St. Paul's Church, where Cjinbh Nelson dondiietea the service. The Newmarket* Parnell and Remuera Cadets went to St. Luke's Church in Remueraj where the Rfet, G. B. Monro preached; Our report on the various eerrices is unavoidably held over.
