The law allowed them to adopt ; , a sectional scheme. Drainage waa a very | , important question in the interests of public health, and only a short time ago ' ther« were several cases of diphtheria i in the particular square covered by the j present scheme. The carrying out of the work was entrusted to Mr. Metcalfe. | - who had had considerable experience r- ! •'' drainage construction, and bis plans, in j volvinjj on outlay of about £2750, were j ' available for inspection.
