It was found tttat tite but had been broken into, and the stock of provisions" stolen. Constable Loar.. Devonporc, who arrested the seensed, said that inquiries showed that Young had been roaming about for two months, doing no ■work. A number ci robberies oi food had taken: place recently. The charge was reduced by the police to one of common theft, and the magistrate, remarking that there was no doubt about Young's guilt, sentenced frrro to imprisonment for two months. Prohibited.—lfiehael Lynch, charged with drunkenness, pleaded not guilty. This plea resulted in the production of evidence showing that Lynch. vvas helplessly inebriated, and that fee was addicted to drink. The defendant was iined £1- and prohibited for 12 monthsCuriosity "Rewarded." —Alfred William J. Kelly, a prohibited Berson, par forward an amnsirg excuse in answer to a charge that he had been fcnnd unlawfully in the Albert HoteL His explanation was that he heard a. man talking in the hotel as he passadj and went inside to hesu what he was talking about. Kelly had not secured beer, and his lap=e through curioaty cost TiTtti a fine of a sovereign. Without lights.—Hannah Gordon, who failed to appesr. ->vas fisted 10/ wifh costs for driving in Federal-street after sunset without lights. Maintenance Oraers. —Joseph Patrick Kelly was ordered to pay 5/ weekly towards the niain.tsns.nee cf his child,* and a similar order was made against Cnristopher Saunders for 'he maintenance cf his mother. Arthur Hasford Herbert, convicted of neglecting: to obey an Grder for his father's mauitenanee vras sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended if the arrears were paid within a fox night. An order for the payment of 7/6 weekly for the support cf his sister was ma.de against Charles Burtensha-W.
