Company have informed the Postmaster-General that they ' hope to add to the Vancouver service the new turbine steamer Maheno during the | busy period between May and August , next. [The Maheno is primarily intended for 1 the New Zealand-Melbourne trade, and is 'of 5500 tons, with a horse-power of 6000 ' I and a speed of 18 knots. She is now being constructed by Denny Bros., of Dumbar- ' ton. and is expected to reach Australia j in October. She is slightly larger than the Manuka, which has already made | several trips in the Vancouver trade, being 400 ft long by 50ft beam, and having accommodation for 220 first-class, 116 ; second-class and 33 third-class pasen- . jjers.]
