ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.

A WIFE'S PBAISEWORTHY ACT.

William Windsor, a young man, who was charged this morning before Mr S. E. McCarthy, S.M., with having attempted to commit suicide, owed his life to the promptitude and good judgment of his wife. Windsor, who is the propriftGr of the Coromandel Oyster Saloon, Grny-street. admitted the facts a3 stated by Sub-Inspector Black. She screamed for assistance, and it arrived quickly, Windsor being cut down in an unconscious state. He had to be revived by means of artificial respiration. Sub-Inspector Black surmised that the accused's drinVing h: bits were responsible for the trouble, and the magistrate, convicting him of the charge and ordering hini to come up for sentence if called upon, also issued a prohibition order. Windsor was warned that if the police heard that he was drinking again he -would be brought up for sentence. (By Telegraph.—Prpes Association.) WANGANUI, this day.
