WRECK OF THE SCHOONER MEDORA.
The "Western Pacific Herald" gi«* ' the following additional particulars of the wreck of the schooner Medora, an Auckland-built vessel owned by Captain C. Kaad, of Levuka:—"The Medora, under the command of Captain Pfeiffer, was lying in Sigave Bay when the hurricane commenced, loading copra for Cap- . tain C. Kaad. of Levuka, and had on .. board some 12 tons of copra. She rode out the storm in safety, until the follow- • ing afternoon, when "both the cables parted, and she drifted ashore and be- . came a total wreck- All hands on board were fortunately saved. The shipwrecked mariners received every kindness - from Mr Oppennan, a trader on the is- • land, and also from the Roman Catholic Mission, during their stay on the island . afterwards. After the * ship went; to ' pieces sonio Futuna Island natives direa down to the wreck and brought up » few valuables from the hull, including sextant and compass."
