Mr George Nlcholl advises that the barquentine Neptune arrived at Fiemantle from Mercury Bay yesterday. The barquentine Elverlaud, from Newcastle; to Auckland, was reported in the Gulf at sundown yesterday, find dropped anchor off the Heads during the night. The barque Northern Chief was floated out of dock this morning and berthed at the Railway Wharf. On the completion of her overhaul she sails for Kaipara to load timber for Sydney. The s.s. Perthshire sailed for London at daylight this morning with a large general •MLrgo from the principal ports of the colony. She will be due iv London on 24th Match next. Transhipments ex the s.s. Matnari, from London, will arrive by the s.s. Mokoia, due ut Auckland on sth Inst. Consignees will note that Messrs A. S. Puterson and Co. are the local agents for the steamer.
The barque Bjarue arrived at Now York on December iiOtli last from Auckland. The passage to Cape Horn was accomplished In the good time of 31 days. Head winds then prevailed week after wi-et, the result being that the passage from there to New York waa prolonged to 117 days.
