DUNEDIN WOOL SALES

DTjNEDIN, this day. • The hird wool sales opened this morning, one firm catalogued &40 bales, of winch only 81 passed. The result Is considered very satisfactory, considering the decided decline in the market since the last sale. For pieces and bellies excellent rates were realised. The average drop iv cross bred wools was from *d to 3d. Half breds are much on a par with the last salt-. The demand for merinos is if anything bettei* than at the Inst sales. Average prices dropped a farthing to a halfpenny. Top pi ices were 103 d for crossbreds, ltMd for Ualf-breds, and 10d for merino 3, though no choice lines offered in the latter class. The offering were (U3O bales, or slightly below the corresponding sales last year There was a Rood attendance of buyers and bidding was animated for flue wools such as super and half-bred and merino which realised the sftine iates as the last sale on January 13th. The drop in crossbred is estimated at from $d to lid. The lop price so far for merino is 11-Jd- for t>-Uf-bred lljd, and for cross-bred 10|d per
