AUSTRALIAN FLOODS.
Interruption of Traffic. SYDNEY. January 18. Further heavy rain has fallen in the north-western district*, and 3J inches hare fallen in Tweed River districtBRISBANE. January 18. The heavy rain continues in many places. Nine inches have fallen at GladBtone; 7. inches at Rockhampton, where the river has risen Oiu over the wharves. !The merchants have been engaged all day removing goods. The river is now stationary, but a further downpour in the outlying districts is feared, with the result of a greater flood. The departure of the mail train to Brisbane has been indefinitely postponed, em-ing to the flooded state of the railWay. At Maryborough a man has been Browned crossing the river with a dray. \ (Received 9.40 a.m.) BRISBANE, this day. Heavy floods are reported from the Bundberg district. A number of settlers were rescued in boats at the Rockhampton wharves. The flood has done much damage to property. At the latest report., the floods were Subsiding.
