Tie old man sat and drank the went: Tho thresher's thunder, the engine's whir, Long belts in the sun-flecked air agliet. Brown, giancin? arms and forks astir In the rnstling straw, and sweet and keen The laujjhtor glau o'er tho fans' 10-w bnr. Chaff rising in clouds of golden tint: Ami in his hr-srt a sons was son-. A spring sons? of days when he was young. But cot the noontide horrr of rest Has eomt\ and round the £enf:il board The men are placed, and merry tlie elane Of dishes ana tongues in sweet s>,~eord. While savoury smells give appeti*e zest. Then (iinner o'er, the trees afford A pleasant shade, while- leaflets sine; Above the panse of pipe and tongue The old man te!ls of -when. Ue was yonug. Now in the grey, velvet dusk of ne Ou the oW barn floor the young feet ring To the viohus' gfladaome melody.
