RETREAT BECOMES BOUT. IMMENSE JAPANESE CAPTURES (Received 7.36 a.m.) LONDON, October 17. Field-Marshal Oyama reports : " The result of the* fighting from the lOth to the 14th insts. was favourable in every direction, though the enemy's strength is very superior to ours. "Wβ are pressing the Russian army at the Hun-ho and inflicting heavy losses. " We have taken hundreds of prisoners, besides guns and an enormous quantity of rifles and wagsjons«" The Standard says that the Russian retreat haa now,developed into a rout of the 'whole front, except that to the south-east, where the retreat of a strong body has beem intercepted.
