MEETINGS & ENTERTAINMENTS.
CHURCH OP CHRIST, PONSON*BY ROAD. This church held its annual social gathering last evening, and notwithstanding the wet it proved.a successful and highly enjoyable function. The secretary's report showed great activity in all departments of church work, with 04 additions to membership auring the year. The treasurer's report showed that the funds were in a sound condition. Mr Robert Laing presided, and addresses were delivered by Mr Chas. Watt on "Looking Backward." and by Mr F. L. Hadfield on "looking Forward." An excellent choir, led by Mr Wm. Marson, gave a fine rendering o£ several choruses. Hisses Hibbert and Martin gave recitations that were highly appreciated: while Miss Minnie Welsh, in a sweet voice, sung "Dark below, bnt light above."' Two quartettes were well given, the first by Misses Marson and Edwards, and Messrs Jones end Downey, and the second by Misses Cammell and McDermott and Messrs Marson and Cammell. On the motion of Mr H. N. Bagnall, a resolution, of profound sympathy was carried by the audience, afl rising, irith Mr F. Davies,' one of the elders, on the death of his daughter.
