A RECX)ED ATTENDANCE. The enow in the Chioral Hall was. attended yesterday l>y an unusually large crowd of sightseers. The ladies were particularly numerous. In formally opening the exhibition His Worship remarked on the great excellence of

the flowers exhibited. He made specia. dal reference to two tables of flowers sent gno in from the gardens of Mr H. Brett, of es:e Lake Takapuna, and arranged by rep Miss Pickering and Mrs Rainger, to and declared that they would an< ; do credit to any country in the t j o world. Society a great financial success. h Air Midgeley early in the afternoon si gave a recital on the magnificent orga. which has helped to make the Chorai Hall famous, and was listened to with great delight by a crowded audience. His rendering of the "Marseillaise" was particularly enjoyed. Subsequently, while afternoon tea was being dispensed, an. excellent programme, arranged by Mr W. O. Garland, was carried out by Madame Wigmore (organ offertories), Mr W. E. Brown, and Mr Chas. Kisslino- (vocal solos), Mrs Roe (vocal" solos), . d Mr Garland's glee party (several ees). To-day between 3 and 5 o'elc there will be an organ recital by Mr J. H. Phillpot, and after the doors re-open (at 7 o'clock) 1 a grand promenade concert is to be ' oiven, consisting of organ solos by Mr I lio-ht F.G.0.; con crt music, by Mr . Morton's Mandoline Septette; and '. solos by popular local vocalists. For the afternoon tea and mucn ', other help in making the show suecess--1 ful the strong ladies' committee is en--1 titled to .considerable credit. It con- •- sisted of Mesdame, F. H- Brown, W. 3 Grav-Dixon. P. Oliphant, H. Campbell, * G Fowlds, Harding Porter, J. J. Craig, E. J. Harvey, and A. H. Tompkins, and r! Miss Horton. Congratulations on the % success of the show are due to the * working committee, consisting of Messrs. F. H. Brown, W. Handky (chairman), H. A. ' r arriner, W. 0. Garland, E. J. Harvey, W. Sa-tchell, A. E. Grindrod. G. Hunt, W. Timewell, H. C. Haselden (secretary), and T. S. Jacka (treasurer). The orchestral stage was decorated ? D with some effective pot plants lent by Mr D. Hay. They included specimens »*■- lof antbttrium scberzerianum (called the md 1 flamingo flower, after the bird of that H. name), the indiarubher plant, Croton, , Kentia palms (from Lord Howe Island), Erica hyhrida (a species of Cape heather), etc. The three pretty decorated tables reIferred to in yesterday's report were exhibited by Mrs Gray Dixon, Mrs E. JHarvey, and Mr 3 H Porter. ADDITIONAL PRIZE AWARDS. Fifteen varieties of daffodils: C. Hesketh 1, Captain Macqueen 2. Champion large trumpeted daffodil ("Empress"): C. 'esketh, champion medium-trumpeted tffodil ("Sir Watkin") C Hesketh; champion camellia ("Mathotiana"), C S. McDonald and Sons.

In yesterday's report, by error, several narcissus winnings were attributed to Mr E. A. Grindrod, when the real winner was his brother, Mr C. A. Grindrod.
