The fifth lecture of the series was delivered by the Anglican Bishop of Auckland (Dr. Neligan) in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre yesterday niterpoon to a large audience. The subject of the discourse was ''Personality and Atonement." The Bishop said that in order that atonement be real there must be some sharing of common conditions between the Redeemer and the redeemed. There must exist in both the same avenues for temptation, for thus only can the one understand the other. The Bishop concluded by saying Calvary did not mean that Christ suffered the vengeance of God or the damnation of sin; on the contrary Calvary meant the perfect penitence of the perfectly sinless.
