SAKHAROFF _ REPORT. RUSSIANS TAKE OFFENSIVE. ——Vi JAPANESE REPULSED. 1450 RUSSIAN CASUALTIES. LONDON, August 28. General Sakharoff, in a despatch, states that the enemy on August _6__ took the offensive along the whole front of the Manchurian army. " Early in the monu-s the Japanese occupied the railway on their left flank towards the west at Hes- ___:____, Toliu-gehiii and -_—_-- uanpn, bnt the attack there ceased at moon. " Tlie enemy then concentrated a force of one division and a half, Tsith artillery, before dawn, against our advanced guards' left flank at Anshnntian, our forces retiring on the main position. "We repulsed the Japanese infantry on our right flank and si- ■ lenced a battery of twenty-four guns, and also repulsed further hot > attacks. ' . | " In the afternoon, taking the of- , fensive, we drove the Japanese to- j wards Nankan Valley. " The fighting in the eastern di- j rection was serious, including a bayonet encounter. " The Russian losses for the day numbered 1450."
