— Further details of the siege of Port Arthur show that the Japanese are employing 300 heavy guns borrowed from the harbour defences of Japan. Two main army happenings are dealt with— Kuroki's northward movement/ and a battle involving the whole lius-ian line, in the latter the Russian casualties*, by _a-__aro_'3 admission, numbered 1460. He claims, however, to have repuiseu a portion of the Japanese iniantry.
