JUDGE EDWARDS' OPINION. "A GROSS MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE." The trial of the youth William Meek for alleged perjury while defending himself in the Magistrate's Court against a charge of assaulting Daniel Townsend in Coburg-street last May was finished last evening, -when evidence in denial of the assault was called by Mr Lundon for the defence. Th« jury srfter retirement found the accused not guilty. His Honor said he regarded the verdict as a very grave miscarriage of justice, and for tie safety of the general community he hoped such an injustice would never be repeated. The accused was then discharged.
