The quartz looks well, but shows no gold. ■ Lhiuraki Freeholds.—Owing to the Increased quantity of water that there is to contend against in sinking the winze on Anderson's leader, work had to be sus- ' l pended on Thursday last, and preparations J are now being made to extend the interI mediate crosscut driven in the early days by the old Golcondn G.M. Co. An additional GOft of driving will intersect the lode, and thus give 40ft of vertical backs to be operated upon. The last ouartz - broken in the vrinze showed colours ril • gold, and the lode altogether maintained , its very promising appearance. In the ' i stopes 1, 2, and 3 crushing dirt is being obtained in which gold is seen when breakt ing down, and occasional stones of extra . value are selected for the bag. Nothing , has been done on the north reef this week. (From Our Special Correspondent.) x LONDON, Jury 8. The Hauraki Gold-mining Company no longer exists, for at a meeting of sharei holders held in London last Tuesday it was - unanimously decided to -change the name j of the company to "The North Laehlau , Gold-mining Company, Ltd.," that being • the name of the New South Wales property to which the shareholders in the old Hauj ralci now look for dividends, and appear likely to get them at no very distant date. I Speaking at the meeting of the company's ; New Zealand interests, the chairman said: < "We have now no interest whatever li , . New Zealand beyond the 4000 shares which l are held in a local company, being the balance of 10,000 shares received in pay- ' ment for the old property. We have sold I t>ooo of them locally, and although they i were only half-crown shares, 1000 of them 5 fetched 4/ each, and none of them haye " been sold under par. We have now 4000 i left. The local price is 1/9. We are watchr ing developments carefully, and we shall , take the first opportunity to sell our shares, and so entirely sever our connection with " New Zealand." t bHAEEMARSET. ~ KOSINESS DONE— a, Waihi Extended 8/2 Pride of Waihi 1/4 Kuranui 1/, 1/2, 1/4, 1/2, 1/3 Kuranui Caledonian 4d Waihi Beach 34a Bunker's Hill . .2/4, 2/5, 2/6, 2/7, 2/8, 2/C, 2/5.
