AUCKLAND PRESBYTERY.
The Auckland Presbytery met last night in St. Andrew's Church, the Rev. Mr Wedderspoon (Moderator) presiding over a numerous gathering of clergymen and elders.
Translation of Rev. McLennan.—The call Siveu by Chalmers Church. Dunedin, to the Rev. D. McLennan, of Waipu, was considered at some length by the Presbytery. Commissioners from the charge stated that they would regret his leaving.—The Rev. Mr McLennan said that he had every desire to desire a transition to Dunediu, but felt bound to stay in Waipu for the sake of the church.—The Presbytery resolved to approve the decision of the Rev. Mr -McLennan to set aside the call, and that the Rev. Mr Gray Diion visit Waipu to congratulate the congregation on retaining his services.
Opotiki.-Thc Rev. Mr McDonald was granted two months' leave of absence on account of ill-health, and the Tauranga minister was appointed to act as Moderator iv hfts stead.
Paeroa.—The pall to the Rev. H. J. Lewis, of Mauala, to Paerou was sustained by the Presbytery. The stipend is £175, with new manse. The induction was fixed for August 31st, the Revs. Burton, Pattullo, and Thornsou to officiate.
Northcote.—The Rev. Mr Gray introduced the Rev. Mr Gow to the Presbytery, and he was welcomed by the Moderator. The Key. Mr Gray also Introduced the subject of a new manse required for the charge. Tho congregation asked the Presbytery to recommend a loan of £400 by the Century Fuud for this purpose, to be repaid in 5 per ceut. instalments per annum, with interest at 2 per cent. The estimated cost of the manse is £500, £100 being subscribed by the congregation. It Is to be placed on an acre of land owned by the trustees, near the church.—Recommended.
Devonport.—lt was arranged that the lndnctlon of the Uev. Mr Bertram should take place ou August 23th at Devonport, the Rev. Mr Gray to induct and address the minister, the ilev. Mr Wedderspoon to address the people, aud the Rev. Mr Russell to preach.
Mangere.—The resignation' of the Rev. Mr Keattie from the charge of Mangere on the grounds of ill-health was received. Two commiasiouers from the charge regretted the minister's resignation and testified to the prosperity of the church under his control. The resignation was accepted with regret. Mr Beattie was recommended for admission to the benefits of the Aged Ministers' Fund, and he is allowed to retain his seat on the Presbytery.
