BRITISH FOOTBALL MATCH.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

WELLINGTON, this day.

Mr. Duncan has accepted the offer to coach the New Zealand team. Two emergency men, P. McMinn (forward), of Manawatu, and Hunter (back), of Taranaki, have been requested to come to Wellington. It is understood that if Porteous cannot play, of which there seems some doubt, Gallagher will be wing iorward.

A private letter received from an exAocklander now In Wellington (and who is ia an exceptional position to judge the merits of footballers) contains the following interesting comments on the indiyiduai members of the backs of the Wellington representative team, and which should be read with interest by local footballers. Spencer the full-back. Is mentioned as an exceptionally fine tackier and good: tocli. Thp three-quarter line he has no faith in, the only redeeming feature being their kicking. Mclntyre is probably the best, and if he gets going is a hard man to stop. Roberts and Wallace he looks upon as the mainstay of the backs. Both are strong runners and determined tarklers, and will give a lot of trouule. The forwards are, taken as a whole, as good a body as have represented Wellington for some time, and will give the Auckland i pack a busy time.
