AN IMMENSE DEFICIT.

ADELAIDE, this day. In the Legislative Assembly the State Treasurer brought in a bill to authorise the raising of f 1,000,000 to cover the deficit on the Northern Territory. He said that owing to the prevention of tbe employment of suitable labour it was impossible tc develop tropical agriculture. It was unfair that South Australia ■houldbe called upon to hold territory for • White Australia unless they were permitted to develop its resources.
