SCULLING CHAMPIONSHIP.

Another Race ProbableL

SYDNEY, August 2,

There is a probability that the champion George Towns will have to defend the championship against James Stanbury. A cable has been received from the supporters of Towns in London offering to back him to meet Stanbury on the Thames for £1000 a-side. Stanbury's supporters are not at present inclined to accept the offer, n" they consider the Parramatta course good enough. It is stated that Stanbury can get plenty of local backing, and that he is confident that a match will be made.
