CORRESPONDENCE.
GREAT BRITAIN V. AUCKLAND.
To the Rriitor.)
Sir, —Will you be good enough to per-! Mit mc to give a few details of the ar- j rangements of this match for public in-j formation? Full particulars have been 1 advertised in all the press of the prices j of tickets of admission, and when and] where they are obtainable. Tickets for ground and main stand will be on sale only, at Messrs Wildman, Lyell and Arey*s, H. E. Partridge and Co, r s, and Mrs Williamson's, on Monday, Bth August. And I wish especially to em-' phasive the fact that, except in th« case of country orders, for which a limited number of 100 stand tickets will be re-' served at each selling place, no stand tickets will be sold except over the counter. The proprietary of each of the selling establishments have received positive instructions on this point, and have pledged themselves to comply with them. I therefore caution persons who may have left orders ior tickets before the opening day that such orders will not be filled. My committee mean everybody, as far as possible, to have an equal chance. No special seats are re-' served, but each purchaser of 2/6 main| stand tickets will be ensured a seat, as! the sale of those tickets will stop when ', seating capacity of stand is reached.. The committee themselves will sell no tickets to anyone. And I would like to' say that neither the hon. treasurer nor myself can possibly undertake to reply' to the vast number of letters and tele- j grams that we are receiving on the sub-! j-eet of tickets. We mean no discour- j tesy, but we simply have not time. We have fixed the date of opening sale so far ahead as the Bth August so a<s to j give country people a chance. Of course, the pale of ground tickets will be unlimited. No tickets for auxiliary stand will be sold in town. They will be ob- > tainnble on the ground only on the day of match. The total stand accommodation will give room for about 3200 people, and we cannot increase this, for financial nnd other cogent re.asons. I may explain that the Auckland Rugby Union nre merely agents of the Now Zealand > Union in arranging this match, and not. one penny of the profits belongs to the I local union. I am informed by the Railway Department that special trains, at excursion rates, are being put on for the match from Thames and Waikato, of which the Department are ad-! vertising full particulars.—l am. etc, CHASTE.- MaeCORMICK, : Hon. Sec. A.R.U.
