PAEROA, Thursday.
A special meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council was held this afternoon to consider applications for the position of engineer. There were 17 applieaeations from all over the. colony, and the final decision was postponed till the ordinary meeting of the Council this day week.
The Paeroa Ladies' Hockey Club have received word that the Auckland Ladies' Association purpose sending a team to play Paeroa early in September.
A runaway took place in the main street to-day, a young fellow being thrown out of a buggy, the horse immediately bolting along the Karangahakeroad till it was brought up about a mile out by a -waggon and coach blocking further progress. The driver, though shaken, was able to go out. by coach later on.
A football team, representing the trades journeyed from Thames to Paeroa to-day and played a local team, tne latter winning by 5 points to 3.
