APPALLING EXPLOSIONS.

A dynamite explosion at Independence, on the Florence-Cripple Creek railway i killed sixteen and fatally injured nine noc-unioni=t miners who had just stopped work, and were awaiting their train to proceed home. The officials are confident that it was a premeditated outrage, as the dynamite was so placed that the incoming train must be blown up. The explosion wrecked the Gaining distillery at Peoria, Illinois, the second largest in the world, and buried and incinerated ten persons. The loss is estimated at a million dollars. Ibe fire afterwards spread to the stockyard, burning 3200 cattle.
