Amongst the notices to mariners forwarded to th eAuckland Harbour Board is one by the Marine Department, Wellington, stating that on and after the Ist of June a black buoy will be moored 6_ cables off Maraetae Point, in Tamaki Strait, Hauraki Gulf. The buoy is in three fathoms at low water springs. The British Admiralty also notified that in Torres Strait, north coast of Australia the German s.s. Varizin struck on a rock when drawing 18_ft of water. The position was one from which Booby Island bore south tight degrees west, distant 3| miles. This has been marked or the charts as Varizin shoal. Mr. Charles Ranson has, on behalf & the Northern S-S. Co., Ltd., applied for t 50 years lease of section 137, having 37f1 fontage to Quay-street, and jfdjoinihf the company's present offices (oh tht eastern side. DEAR FRIENDS!
