THE HAMILTON SUICIDE.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON this day. At an inquest on the body of George. Walton, who shot himself in the Hospital grounds yesterday, a Verdict of " Suicide" was returned Walton obtained the revolver from his bag at the refuge, having had it in his possession ever since his admission. He told a fellow-inmate that he had been in bed 15 weeks, that he was not getting on well, but was half starved. He said he was going for a sleep in the sun. The evidence showed that Walton had sufficient food, but was not allowed meat diet. He had shown no sign of mental derangement. It was stated that it was not the duty of the hospital staff to supervise admissions to the refuge, and there was nothing to prevent the introduction of firearms there. The jury added a rider calling the attention of the authorities to this lack of supervision.
