THE TORONTO FIRE.
SIX THOUSAND PEOPLE OUT OF WORK. Damage £2,600,000. OTTAWA, April 21. One hundred and thirty buildings were destroyed by the Toronto fire, and 6000 ; people have been thrown out of work. The damage is estimated at 13,000,000 dollars (about £2,600.000), the insur|ances amounting to 9,000,000 dollars j (about £1,800,000), chiefly in British offices.
