POLICE COURT.—THIS DAY.
(Before Mr E. Baker, J.P., Mr A. Y. Bartlett. J. P.. and M J. Bennett, J.P.. Arrested on Suspicion. — Joseph Thompson, a youth who had been arrested on suspicion of stealing a pair of boots, value 12/6, the property of someone unknown, was remanded until Monday in custody. He had been arrested during the early hours ot the morning by a constable, to whom he could give no account as to where he obtained them. He alleged in Court that he explained to the officer that he bought the boots from a man in the street, but was told he wa_ telling a lie. Alleged Theft of Jewellery.—On a charge of stealing jewellery value £IT 6/ from the dwelling of Lawrence Gomez. Archibald M. Ewan, who had already been remanded from the 16th inst., was further remanded until Monday. Sub-Inspector Black explained that Ewan slept in the house from which the jewellery was missed, and had been charged with the theft on suspicion. There was just a possibility of recovering some of the lost articles if the remand was secured. First Offenders.—The drunkards comprised three first offenlers. who were convicted and discharged.
