TERRIFIC THUNDERSTORM.
A FIKEBALL EXPLODES. Rabbit Inspector Killed. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) FEILDING, this day. A terrific thunderstorm and heavy rain were experienced here yesterday. A fireball fell at Haleombe, and exploded on striking the earth. CHRJSTCHUB.CH, this day. Near Tamdale station at midday yesterday Mr. Donald Ross, rabbit inspector, was struck on the head by lightning and killed. His horse was also killed. Mr. Munro, rabbit inspector, who was accompanying Mr. Ross, was thrown from his horse and injured on the shoulder. He was uneonscioos over an hour. Subsequently he rode to Hanmer, a distance of sixty miles, arriving at seven o'clock this morning. Mr. Ross, who was well known in the Wairarapa district, leaves a widow in Scotland. An inquest will be held. •
