SALE OF SHEEP. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency held their annual sheep fair yesterday afternoon at Otahuhu. when 10,000 of all classes were offered, including about 300 rams, wethers, and 2000 lambs. Amongst the ewes offered were 40 pure-bred English Leieesters. and 20 pure-bred Shropshires. The company also disposed of Shropshire rams on behalf of Mr C. F. Reid at 3 guineas each. STOCK AND PRODUCE. Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons' report keen competition for all useful sorts of horses at auction. Aged draughts, £16 to £21: medium colts and fillies. £18 10/ to £2S 10/: aged express horses, £20 10/ to £25: buggy horses and good hacks, £17 15/ to £26 10/; light harness and ordinary hacks, £6 to £15 7/6. Hides, Skins, and Tallow: Hides —Ox, 43d to GJd; cow, 4Jd to 4Jd; calf. 4d to sd; kip, 4Jd to 4Jd. Tallow, 17/ to 20/3. tsones, 4/6; tails. 1/5. Skins: Large, 3/ to 4/2; others, 1/6 to 2/9. Pelts, 1/ to 2/1; lamb, 1/ to 2/2. Wool, In bags: Merino. Sd; crossbred. 5d to GJd: cotts. sid to 53d; pieces and locks. 2£d to 4d; lambs, Gd. We held a special salt- of sheep at Helensvine on Wednesday, and yarded close on 1500 sheep, most of which changed hands at satisfactory prices. Wethers sold from 8/6 to 14/: ewes, aged, 3/3 to 5/6, young, 9/ to 12/6; lambs, 3/ to 5/6; Lincoln rams, £1 1/ each. At Remuera on Thursday dairy co.wrs came forward in moderate numbers. For those of choice quality there was competition; others unsalable. Those at prorit sold up to £9. Stores, few yarded, were at late nnotatioas. "Fat and young calves, in full supply, sold well up to late values. Small were "from 2/ to 5/; good, S/ to 14/; medium. to 18/; he-avy. up to 52/; 07 sold. The beef pens were well filled with cattle of good quality, and iast week's prices were maintained. Well fattened steers sold up to 23/ the 1001b: i*ows, to 20/. Steers ranged In price from £7 7/6 to £10 5/; cows. £4 10/ to £7 10/: 25S sold. There was an average yarding of mutton, which was required, competition bein? steady throughout. Best wethers sold up to IS/9; ewes, to 15/9; lighter weights, mixed sexes. 12/ to 14/6. Lambs, plentiful, were ea&ier in value. Heavy. 12/6 to 14/: lighter weights, 9/ to 11/; store, 5/6 to 7/6. Pigs, in moderate numbers: fattened sorts inclined to be easier in value. Small and stores are wanted; prices very fair. LONDON CABLE. (Received 9.35 a.m.) LONDON, February 11.
